Gamlehuset (2018)
The door handle to an old farmhouse in the Western Norway. For a while I have been admiring this project. It’s an abandoned home now being brought back to life in a slow but steady pace. In the process of restoring the building, old materials are being used, like this door. A key element to the project is a personal commitment, a deep understanding of cultural heritage and good craftsmanship. In rural Norway houses like this are often referred to as «Gamlehuset». It literally means «the old house» but more precisely the old farmhouse on a farm where a new one has been built, traditionally by a new generation.
